HERON (2017) Dance Film, 5 mins
Director & Performer: Roxana Barba
Cinematographer & Editor: Claudio Marcotulli
The story and movements unfolded out of an intimate encounter with a wounded heron. Remaining beautifully defiant, utterly graceful and elevated out of his pain, he looked as impotent as I felt. The desire for flight found us with one foot on land and one on water, only able to cross spaces that are neither here, nor there.
Shot on a highway situated over a waterway, HERON is an improvised dance film about a human-animal encounter in the liminal space.
