Amaru in Heaven, 2021
Miami Light Project, Here & Now
Amaru in Heaven originates in a future subdued to digital dominance, when mythical ancestral serpent Amaru is invoked to restore life on Earth.
Within the context of the ongoing digitization of all aspects of our life and human obliteration of the natural world, Amaru in Heaven blends futuristic and ancestral forms in a multi-genre performance where past, present and future cycle through each other.
Amaru in Heaven is part of a two-year artistic research into Peru’s Pre-Columbian cultures alongside historians and artists based in Peru and Miami.
